DO I NEED A REFERRAL?
No - you do not need a referral to see us. Doctors and other health professionals regularly refer patients to us, but you are welcome to attend without a referral.
-
DOES MEDICARE COVER ANY OF THE COST?
No, unless you are covered by Veterans' Affairs, or have one or more chronic illnesses that would qualify you for a Allied Health Medicare referral from your GP or if you have been given an Allied Health Medicare Referral plan by your doctor.(formerly called EPC)
-
WHAT IS AN EPC AND HOW DO THEY WORK?
EPCs are given to people with chronic (ongoing) health conditions such as diabetes or severe Osteo or Rheumatoid arthritis. Your doctor can advise you if you are eligible. EPC's are now called Allied Health medicare referrals.
-
WILL MY PRIVATE HEALTH PLAN COVER SOME OF THE COST?
That depends on what level of Private Health Cover you have chosen! Some plans cover Podiatry services, some don't (usually called ancillary cover). When Podiatry IS covered, the amount of money you get back also varies according to your level of coverage. We suggest contacting your Private Health insurer if you are unsure as to your coverage.
-
WHAT KIND OF THINGS CAN A PODIATRIST HELP ME WITH?
Obviously any kind of foot pain is our speciality. However, your knee, hip, or lower back pain may be originating from problems related to how you walk or how your feet are functioning. For those without pain, you may be looking to maximise your performance and avoid potential problems.
-
DOES TREATMENT HURT?
Most skin and nail procedures, such as removing corns and calluses, are surprisingly pain free. Even ingrowing nails can usually be relieved with minimal discomfort. We are here to take your pain away.
-
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
We have both standard and pensioner and health care card rates. As already mentioned having Private Health coverage or an Allied Health medicare referral means your visit will be subsidised.
